You should not have to understand election law before you can understand a representative card. Here is the short version of districts, terms, and why two people in the same county may have different lawmakers.
Every House seat is on the ballot every two years. A county can contain several House districts, so the delegate shown for one part of a county may not represent someone living in another part of that same county.
The two senators from a district are not normally elected at the same time. That is why a senator's next election cannot be inferred from the district number alone. It has to be verified for that specific seat.
County boundaries and legislative district boundaries are not the same thing. WVFC currently shows lawmakers whose districts overlap the county. Until address-level district matching is added, use your official voter record to confirm which House and Senate districts apply to your home address.
